Boy did LABOR Day ever really mean LABOR like this weekend! The ceilings in the sunroom and living room are done! About 16 hours of work. The kitchen floor is tore out, the new layer of kitchen grime was cleaned, a patio set was installed outside along with a killer grill. Here are some recent photos.
The cracks are everywhere
More cracks
Yup
Taped off the entire floor with paper as well as all floor molding
Can I really do this?
YIKES! It seems messy. Good thing we got the floors covered :)
At work
Sealing off other rooms was critical. The dust was extreme!
AH! Luckily Amber is brilliant! Forced me to get goggles and a mask that I didn't think I would need!
I look like a coke addict from a 70's movie
Total mess
Progress is being made!
Getting better
And better
Before primer but looks good!
Another shot .. I'll do a side by side comparison at the end of this
The view coming down the steps. Once primed/painted you'll never know!

Job Done
It was this
We had a professional fix this before Amber closed on the house
Now this
Ok, so a few "imperfections" can be seen. However, I'm confident with the paint we are going to use it will kill the 2 areas that you can see a slight hump. Total cost for me was about $40. A contractor wanted $1,600. I'll take the savings! We are VERY pleased with the look and the fact we could keep the 80 year old plaster ceiling. Walls will be next and paint will go on. Once done we'll have 2 rooms complete (Living Room and Sunroom) and will move furniture in and seal the room off while we work on other areas. Basically, we'll live in a bubble.
Now while I was breathing in toxic fumes and probably consuming lead based paint Amber was hard at work putting the grill together, patio set, and working in the kitchen.
Out with this old floor!
Head on shot of the barn sink, we love it.
Old floor
It is coming out
Out out out!
A few areas had strange flooring under the red flooring. Interesting.
With the right stripper we could get to the natural wood in the kitchen. Should we?
Another area we applied stripper to
We will be grilling burgers soon!
Amber called in her friends for help to finish
What a grill! It took 4 hours to finish the assembly. Charbroil Commercial Grade! Amazing.
We now call this "The little man room". Everyone really likes it.
After a hard few days of work ..
We welcome our bed!
