Bathroom Complete

Project Hillside has a much needed addition: an additional bathroom .. well, if you are 3 feet tall and don't mind using an outhouse! Check-out our new well cover at Project Hillside. Hopefully everyone will stop asking me what is that sticking out of the ground .. now, instead of seeing the well, they will see our mini outhouse! We love it!

Wine Cellar

Wine Cellar

The journey begins on our custom wine cellar

This past weekend I embarked on another project: the Backyard Winery wine cellar at Project Hillside. As my aspiring wine making skills continue to grow storage was certainly going to become an issue. Why not take the basement, partition a section off, and create a nice wine cellar? Absolutely, sounds good! Lots of work is going into this project and this is only phase 1, getting it framed out. Check out the pictures and keep track of our status.

Oliver

Luckily for us we have another helper at Project Hillside. He doesn't require money, simply food, water, and lots of good snacks. I guess you can't expect much when you don't pay someone, so he gets away with sleeping on the job on a regular basis. When he does decide to help, it is superb. Thanks for the hand Oliver!

Project Hillside: 3 days of HELL

This project SUCKED! Partially, because I thought it would be a good idea to pickup all the supplies. The other reason, because everyone said how easy it was and how it is like 5 steps. I think they are building these in some nice Arizona flat desert land! At the bottom of a mountain, with the soil has sat since the house was built 80 years ago, working UPHILL, that is HARD stuff. After 3 days of work, it is done! Read all about the patio project and see pictures, click here.

Hot tub installed

The hot tub at project hillside is installed! After waiting nearly 2 months, it finally arrived. All works with the hot tub but a new issue has came up! Since the well is new and we really haven't used it much, lots of sediment formed inside the tank (inside). As a result, after about 50 gallons it pumped MURKY water beacuse the inside tank got low. I need to flush it all out and try again. Hopefully it works! Click here to view the pictures of the hot tub install

Yum!

Amber baked up a delicious homemade red velvet cake! YUM! The kitchen at Project Hillside is churning out amazing dinners and desserts!

May 2010 work at Project Hillside

Three major projects have recently completed at Project Hillside: Installing an 8x8 concrete slab that is 6 inches thick, ripping out the old closet in the bedroom and installing a new one, ripping out the old hallway organizer. Oh yea, and finding some wooden canes in the process! Click here to see the photos of our work at Project Hillside in Shavertown, PA

Project Hillside: Maple Trim

The custom trim in the kitchen is underway. This is a large project that will be done in phases. The main window behind the sink, second window, and door going into the dining room is complete. The basement door and exit door to the outside are next. Once that is complete, the trim on the floor will be complete. We are using rough cut maple, brought in from local sources, and finished on-site. Click here to go to the pictures of the custom maple trim work at Proejct Hillside in Shavertown, PA

Project Hillside: Fence installed and concrete ripped up

The work is still progressing nicely at Project Hillside. The Lands at Hillside Farms are buzzing with traffic and causing a lot more traffic in front of the house with people "escaping for a country drive" which leads me to believe I should really open up my lemonade stand in front of the house. While that project hasn't formalized, the fence has been installed and the concrete walkway with drains are installed. The fence installation (click here) turned out lovely. On top of that, I went ahead and ripped up a good amount of concrete and installed the drainage pipe (click here). We are excited for the hot tub and the continued progress on the backyard. Stay tuned!

Project Hillside: 104' of pure pleasure

Me sitting in the hot tub in the showroom

Our loyal Project Hillside visitors voted and we've concluded it is going to happen! The hot tub for Project Hillside was ordered. After lots of thought we decided to stick with what we like, a Jacuzzi Spa. Blue Mountain Oasis has a J-345 that I installed for guests in 2003 and 7 years later it is like brand new. For Project Hillside, we are going with a Jacuzzi J-365, a step up, with some delightful features. The kind folks at Valley Pools and Spas were kind enough to help us on our decision and we are happy to give our business to them! Great service. The hot tub should arrive the first week of April. The concrete slab is going in now and the landscape will start when I have some energy left in me! Stay tuned.
